Support Groups & Medical Leave

Receiving complex and confusing medical information while facing so many uncertainties can be overwhelming. During this time, it's important to know that support is available—whether from people who can empathize, offer guidance, or simply listen as you process everything.

Please don’t hesitate to seek the support you need, whether from family, friends, spiritual advisors, or online communities.

Most importantly, be kind to yourself.

While some of the resources listed below are not specific to CDH families, they can still provide valuable support as you navigate this journey.

Support Groups

Ladybug CDH Foundation - committee members have varied experiences and together we have access to a wide network of people

CDH International

Hand to Hold - many offerings including peer-to-peer, Spanish speaking, high-risk pregnancy, NICU families, etc.

Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine

Ronald McDonald House

There are a number of CDH specific Facebook support groups as well.

Medical Leave

FMLA Facts

Note: You may live in a state that has additional laws that offer protected medical leave - make sure you are getting everything you are entitled to. This is where becoming friendly with the Social Worker, who is hopefully part of your Care Team, can really help you. Making sure this is taken care of should not be another thing you have to manage.
